Team Hurricane

Hey all!

Thought i would make a little update on what has been going on lately! It has been a crazy busy two and a half weeks. I am finally starting to swing into my schedule, I work all day at a place called Old Time Pottery - which is basically a 3-acre home decor and home goods store. Tonight is my free night of no activities so i thought i would update :).

This past weekend was my D Group weekend! We decided to go somewhere where we didn't have to drive a lot.. so we went to Biloxi, MS! It was a great time of getting to know each other's life stories! We went to the beach, visited a few local restaurants, went to the pier and saw a sting ray, and just bonded. Stephanie also used to live in Biloxi so we relived her childhood with her! We also came up with our group name.. we replaced The 215 to The Hurricane, mainly because we have been obsessed with the song Hurricane by Jimmy Needham and because we were able to still see destruction from Katrina in Biloxi.

So far Kaleo has been more than i expected, i am learning how to be a disciplined Christ follower, learning to read the Bible inductively, and how to share my faith with others.

As far as the oil spill is, it has hit the beach here. However, the tar balls are less than a quarter size and the clean up has been amazing and the beach has actually been open although some days you aren't allowed to swim (for obvious reason).

Until next time, If you would like some things to pray for:

-People from the project who's jobs have been affected by oil spill
-local economy from the oil spill
-that i would be teachable to my leaders and to God throughout the summer
-StuMo's summer India Team, my friend Besty will be there for 6 weeks (they arrived yesterday)

-Liz

you can see the trees still slightly bent from hurricane Katrina.

Runners on the Beach!

Hey as promised, here are a few pics of beautiful Gulf Shores, AL!

I am sorry it has taken so long, I have been SO busy with starting my job right away and diving into all our training. So far everything has been wonderful!! We had a group date this past friday at the beach that we had an assigned theme to and ours was runners. After we played games on the beach our lovely guy D-Group dates took us out for ice cream at TCBY. The photo is my D-Group and theirs. The girls in the photo are the girls i live with, from left to right it's Stephanie, Alexa, Me, and our leader Christina! Work has been pretty good, but a lot of hard work, but that's what you call a job right? anyways, I hope to sit down in the next few days to write a real post, but i thought i should at least update you with some photos. And as of right now, NO OIL! and hopefully it can be contained.

until next time,
-Liz

Kaleo!

Hey everyone! Thank you for stopping by to check out my site! I will be headed to the Gulf Shores May 25th and will return August 1st! If all goes well, I'll be working at a place called Old Time Pottery that's only two miles from our hotel. I will be living with three other women from the project which will be my Discipleship Group (D-Group). There will be over 120 other students from K-State (7 of which are in my sorority!), and one KU student. I'm so excited to get to know all of these people!

heres a little video about Kaleo:

Feel free to shoot me an e-mail at lizstack@ksu.edu if you have any questions or want to hear from me before i leave, i would love to hear from you! Thanks!

until next time,

p.s. the links above (home, about, contacts, FAQ) are currently not connected to new pages at the moment, but i hope to fix them soon!
